Meet Our Leaders

Executive Director

Julie Pfaffinger Olds draws on a range of experience to oversee a rich, engaging PS Science program. She received a B.S. in Biology from Loyola Marymount University and an M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Before launching PS Science in 2007, she taught science and photography at Crossroads School for the Arts and Science in Santa Monica, CA and worked in the Education Division of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, developing museum exhibits, creating teacher and family programs, and writing curriculum guides all aimed at helping children and their families feel excited to learn about the world. Julie and her husband have three grown sons who offered valuable insight into the curiosity and fascination of the young child’s mind.

Since 2007, Julie has been overseeing the development and growth of the PS Science program, creating the in-classroom curriculum for TK through 5th grade, and more recently helping to expand the reach of PS Science programs into diverse community settings.  Since Julie stepped into the Executive Director role in 2016, the PS Science programs have grown from serving 850 students in four schools to over 6,000 students in 18 schools, plus an additional 4,000 in diverse community enrichment programs.
